Welcome!
Hi! I’m Leslie, an “elder” millennial in her mid-forties with a husband and eleven-year-old son living in Colorado. Since my husband and I have been together (over 18 years), we have loved to travel together and explore other countries. Living on the East Coast for almost a decade gave us great access to shorter flights to Europe, a half-day drive to Canada and more. During our child-free years, we visited Mexico several times, and ventured to Europe twice, visiting Paris, Brussels, Rome and Florence. One of our favorite things to do together was get out and immerse ourselves in the culture we were visiting. Talking to locals and getting the details on the “hidden gem” spots to dine and truly feel part of the cities we were visiting.
When our son was born, we didn’t want to fall into the category of putting our travel hobby on hold to wait until he was older. He had his first plane ride at 6 months old. Visited Mexico when he was 15 months old. And went on his first cruise as a toddler. We can now proudly say that in his 11 years he has visited 15 states and 9 countries. The most important value for us to pass onto him is the appreciation for other cultures, the understanding that people can live so differently from us and there is beauty in getting to know them.
It hasn’t been smooth sailing all the way; travel delays, being cranky on planes, jet lag and over-packed itineraries, etc. There is no true “vacationing” with kids, just “parenting” in another location. However, as we have gone through our trials and errors, every trip gets a little bit better as we implement the lessons learned from previous experiences. I’m a planner at heart and like to do a ton of research before we embark on a new adventure. I like to feel like I really know our destination well before arriving. Join my email list and follow along as I share our itineraries, packing lists, travel hacks and lessons learned. My hope is to make the idea of traveling with kids a little less intimidating because my husband and I have seen firsthand how important it is to show our son the world and hopefully raise an amazing, empathic and super cool human.
